The Society of American Bayonet
Collectors (SABC) is dedicated to the study, collecting and preservation
of antique and modern bayonets. Our scope of study includes all
bayonets, from the earliest plug bayonets to modern assault rifle
bayonets and from all nations. This includes related accouterments such
as scabbards, frogs, belts, etc. Our scope includes all types of
bayonets-- socket, sword and knife types. Our annual meeting is held in
conjunction with the Maryland Arms Collectors Association annual antique
gun show, the famous "Baltimore Show." Our evening dinner
meeting is a great opportunity to meet with fellow collectors and noted
experts. Members display pieces from their collections, seek and share
information about bayonets. Many spouses also attend. Membership in the
society will open new channels of history and collecting to you. If you
know of others with similar interests we’d like to hear from them,
too. We firmly believe that SABC membership is beneficial to all bayonet
collectors, and particularly to those interested in American models.
Arms researchers and historians also
benefit greatly. While some SABC members are internationally recognized
authors of books and articles in the arms field, others are beginners
with very small collections, but eager to learn more, and everyone has
fun. We feel that we have
much to offer you, and would like to welcome you aboard. Current annual
dues are $40.00 to US addresses, or $55.00 for members outside the
United States.
Membership benefits include
Quarterly Journal of the Society of American Bayonet Collectors. This is
devoted to articles on bayonets from our membership. Subjects covered
include anything relating to bayonets, their development, their design,
production, alteration and conversion, repair information, unusual
models, and technical data. Also, military bayonet training, tactics,
and usage. Sometimes we cover management or display of individual
bayonets or entire collections. Special discounted hotel room rates for
the "Baltimore Show" weekend and our annual meeting events.
